Applying for Affiliation

  • Application for affiliation must be submitted at least twelve (12) calendar months prior to the next IJMB Examination.

  • It must be accompanied by the necessary approval of the Governing Board or Council of the institution.

  • Application for affiliation must be accompanied by a non-refundable Application Fee of One hundred thousand Naira (N150,000.00) payable to the IJMB, ABU, Zaria. This fee may be reviewed by the IJMB Governing Board from time to time as the need arises.


Affiliation Visit:

Should an institution applying for affiliation satisfy the conditions listed in 4 (a – c) above, the IJMB Office will:

  • Undertake a Preliminary/Discussion Visit to the institution subject to approval by the Chairman of the IJMB Board. The Preliminary/Discussion Team will be made up of 1 from the IJMB Office, 2 nominated by the Board Chairman, and 1 person representing the affiliated institutions.

  • The Preliminary/Discussion Team will report to the Chairman of the Board.

  • Where a favourable report emanates from (a) above, the IJMB Office will constitute a full Resource Inspection Team made up of the following:
    • One person from the Arts (Arabic, English, History, Literature, Christian Religious Studies or Islamic Religious Studies).
    • One person from the Social Sciences (Economics, Government, Sociology, Accounting or Business Management).
    • Two persons from the Sciences (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Geology or Mathematics – 1 for Physical Sciences, and 1 for Natural Sciences).
    • One Librarian.
    • One person from the Institute of Education.
    • One person from the IJMB Secretariat.
    • One person as may be co-opted by the Chairman of IJMB Governing Board.
    • One person representing the affiliated institutions.

Periodic monitoring is undertaken by the Secretariat.

Note 1 This process can be terminated at any stage where the report is not favourable or the degree of compliance to the recommendation is not satisfactory.
